The Moscow Investigative Committee began checking the suspects in the murder of a cryptocurrency millionaireEduard Evstafiev, reports REN TV.
According to Telegram channel 112, in February 2018, he flew from Roslavl to Moscow to conduct a major transaction on the sale of cryptocurrencies.
In his backpack were digital media on which, presumably, keys to cryptocurrency wallets with assets worth “tens of millions of rubles” were stored.
Unknown attacked Yevstafyev and shot him 12 times. From his injuries, he died on the spot.
Now the investigation is checking for involvement inthe murder of Yevstafyev’s group of malefactors, including Karlen Meliksetyan, a student at Moscow State University. According to law enforcers, it was he who gave the tip to the killer about the whereabouts of Yevstafyev.
On the eve of the Moscow police and the FSBdetained a criminal group suspected of preparing an assassination attempt on the head of Gold Miners Russia Group, Yevgeny Voronkin, in order to gain access to 10 thousand bitcoins belonging to him. Among the attackers was Meliksetyan, REN TV reports.
According to Voronkin, he was subjected to several assassination attempts, organized by Ivan Goryunov, a former subordinate of the entrepreneur.
In August 2018 «Kommersant» reported the arrest of attackers who tried to rob Voronkin. During the searches, weapons were found on them.
According to the investigation, the organization of this assassination was also supported by Goryunov and Meliksetyan.
According to REN TV, the suspects are also checked for involvement in other crimes.
In December, it was reported that in St. Petersburg, pseudo-FSB officers, under the threat of torture, stole 55 million rubles worth of cryptocurrencies.
