Mayors of New York and Miami measure salaries in bitcoins

New York Mayor-elect Eric Adams said he plans to receive his first three mayor salaries in bitcoins.

Adams announced his intention by replying to a tweetMiami Mayor Francis Suarez. He has already taken significant steps to pay the administration’s salaries in cryptocurrencies. Additionally, a couple of days ago he talked about paying his next salary 100% in Bitcoin.

Not to be outdone, Adams raised the rate and decided to get his first three salaries in cryptocurrency.

New York always makes great strides, so when I become mayor I'm going to get my first THREE bitcoin salaries.

 

New York will become the center of the cryptocurrency industry and other fast-growing innovative industries! Wait a little! he wrote on Twitter.

In a post-election interview, Adams took ona commitment to make the city crypto-friendly. This could mean re-evaluating the high regulatory barriers to entry into the crypto space by state businesses. He said he is looking into what is holding back the growth of bitcoin and cryptocurrency in New York.

Adams also promised to establish with the Mayor of Miamifriendly competition in terms of crypto policy. He said his staff are also exploring the possibility of implementing the CityCoins protocol in New York, which has already been done in Miami.

Meanwhile, Suarez is optimistic about the future of the project in Miami, believing that it could bring the city $ 60 million within a year.
