Mark Zuckerberg: "Metaverse will be used by billions of people"

Meta* CEO MarkZuckerberg expects the metaverse to be used by billions of people around the world and become the company's main source of revenue over the next decade.

In an interview with CNBC, Mark ZuckerbergZuckerberg said that in the Meta metaverse, people will be able to buy digital goods, content, clothes for an avatar, or various digital goods for a virtual home. In addition, people will be able to purchase utilities to be more productive in virtual and augmented reality in the metaverses and beyond.

"Our strategy was tocreate services and serve as many users as possible - provide services to a billion, two billion people, scale and monetize projects. We expect the same scenario with the metaverse - at least a billion people will use it, each of whom will trade hundreds of dollars,” Zuckerberg said.

He admitted that before achievingreaching a billion user base will take some time. However, Zuckerberg is confident that thanks to his experience with Facebook and other services, they will eventually be able to achieve this scale. According to him, time is not an issue for Meta, since the company can afford large and long-term investments in metaverse research.

Previously former Product Manager at FacebookFrances Haugen criticized Zuckerberg's claims about the security of the metaverse, saying that Meta's main goal is to create as detailed a picture of its users' world as possible in order to show them targeted advertising.
