Marathon Digital Unable to Restore Mining Activity After Major Storm

The American mining company Marathon Digital reported that it has not been able to restore the work of 75% equipment after a strong storm on June 11.

Marathon Digital reported that the event took place inIn the town of Hardin, Montana, the storm significantly damaged the BeoWulf Energy power plant, which supplies energy to the company's equipment. At the same time, the ASIC miners themselves were not affected. Currently, about 30,000 devices are disabled, which is 75% of their total number.

“Given the shutdown of mining devices,Marathon will significantly reduce the number of bitcoins mined. It is necessary to wait for repairs to be carried out at the power plant, or to move the equipment to other locations,” the statement says.

Marathon Digital CEO FredThiel said that part of the power plant's capacity will be restored in early July. Then the company will begin to reconnect miners to work. The total hashrate of the equipment remaining at Marathon's disposal was 0.6 EH/s.

In this case, the devices were transferred fromMaraPool's own mining pool to a third-party pool to increase profitability. In May, the total hashrate of Marathon equipment was about 3.9 EH/s, and the number of devices was 36,830. Previously, Thiel emphasized that the decline in the market does not worry the company's management.
