Man instead of ASIC: Microsoft has filed a patent application for a new cryptocurrency and mining system

Microsoft wants to patent a cryptocurrency based on PoW consensus.or ASIC minersthe system uses “human body activity data”.

Microsoft filed a cryptocurrency patent applicationa system using human body activity data. ” The application says that this will allow people to mine cryptocurrency without additional devices and eliminate the need for ASIC miners.

According to the application, “activityof the human body ”can be directly used for mining:“ the brain wave or body heat radiated by the user when he performs the task provided by the information or service provider, for example, viewing advertisements or using certain Internet services, can be used in the process of mining cryptocurrency ”.

The rest of the document states that this viewactivities will replace the “massive computing work” that is required for some traditional cryptocurrency systems. This is due to the fact that data obtained from human activity can be considered as proof of work, and, therefore, the user can, without realizing it, solve a complex computational problem.

Different tasks will require differentamount of computing energy. A system using data on the activity of the human body is likely to work through a server that issues a command to a wearable device. Body activity data can be generated based on user activity. The cryptocurrency mining system associated with the user's device can check whether the body activity data satisfies one or more of the conditions set by the system and transfer the cryptocurrency to the user as a reward.

Microsoft has not yet announced whether the new cryptocurrency will be based on the existing blockchain or whether the company will create its own platform.

In 2018, researchers at the Institute of Human Obsolescence found that 44,000 people needed the energy to produce 1 BTC. Now this figure is much larger.
