Kraken exchange user data could be stolen as a result of an attack on Etana Custody

Custody service Etana Custody, which provides services to the Kraken cryptocurrency exchange, reported a leakuser data that occurred on April 18th.

Service executives reported a leakoccurred as a result of unauthorized access to the client interface. Crypto assets and fiat currencies of users are safe, no suspicious transactions were recorded. Thanks to Etana's internal security systems and internal protocols that process customer requests for funds transfers, penetration into the system has been neutralized.

However, crackers could have time to viewsome information: customer names, email addresses, residential addresses and phone numbers. At the same time, Etana Custody excludes access to confidential data such as driver’s license numbers, passports and other documents.

As stated on the Kraken cryptocurrency exchange website,Etana Custody is its partner and provides the opportunity to replenish the exchange accounts with five major fiat currencies: USD / EUR / CAD / GBP / JPY. Kraken said that user funds were not affected and promised to contact them directly in the near future. Some traders are surprised why the exchange did not send them any notifications after a possible leak of a unique identifier linking their account to the exchange.

In addition, in November, the BitMEX exchange accidentally revealed the email addresses of its users during mass newsletters.
