Kraken lists PEPE memcoin

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has announced the listing of a new popular meme token, PEPE, inspired by the iconic Internet character Pepe the Frog.

The “hype token meme” PEPE was launched onEthereum blockchain in April 2023. It quickly gained popularity among crypto enthusiasts, positioning itself as a new memecoin that can challenge Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). 

Currently users can tradePEPE on Kraken by adding the token to your accounts. The token is sold on the Kraken and Kraken Pro spot markets, but is not yet available on sites in the US and Canada. 

The current price of PEPE is $0.00000158.After reaching a record peak of $0.0000043, the token fell 63% from its maximum values. PEPE is also listed on Binance, OKX, Bitget and KuCoin. However, Binance holds the largest share of PEPE trading volume at 33.42%, according to CoinGecko data.

Earlier, the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange announced that it had added PEPE to the listing. Trading is currently available in the API/FIX and ActiveTrader applications. 

Amid the PEPE hype, digital artist Johnny Shankman tweeted a video of the process of creating the new EASY_MONEY token in just 27 seconds.
