Judge dismissed bailout of Ethereum developer on bail

On December 30, Judge Vernon Broderick upheld an appeal by Ethereum Foundation employee Virgil Griffith.bail. He was previously arrested for providing information to the North Korean regime on how to circumvent sanctions using cryptocurrencies.

Griffith was allowed to go on bail of $ 1 million, secured by the homes of her sister and parents. His movements were limited to Alabama.

Defense attorney Brian Klein notified the court that Griffithsuspended his work at the Ethereum Foundation, but the organization itself supports him. He also said that the developer partially created Google for the darknet, hinting at TOR.

According to Klein, Griffith was expelled from the TOR project because he informed Interpol about the device of the darknet.

The prosecutor’s office did not like the judge’s decision, since the prosecution believes that there is a high probability of escape.

They demanded that Griffith be prohibited from even using e-mail, but the judge rejected this request.

Recall, for the first time Griffith was denied exiton bail due to a message in which he told his parents about plans to renounce US citizenship and the alleged creation of a laundering business in the DPRK.
