The head of Twitter has joined the ranks of validators of the Bitcoin blockchain.

Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey launched his own Bitcoin node. On February 5, the billionaire posted a screenshot of Bitcoin software running on his computer.&nbsp;

The screenshot shows that Dorsey is still syncing with the blockchain &#8211; that is, it downloads the entire current history of the chain. At the time of writing, the Bitcoin blockchain weighs about 352GB.

Synchronization can take days or even weeks depending on your computer and internet speed. The screenshot shows that so far, Dorsey has only downloaded 2% of the blockchain.

Node owners differ from miners in that theydo not qualify for block rewards. Each node stores the same unchanged copy of the blockchain, thereby enhancing its security. At the moment, from 7000 to 11000 active nodes have been launched on the Bitcoin blockchain.
