Block CEO Jack Dorsey and rapper Shawn Corey Carter, known under the pseudonym Jay-Z, have launched an educationalThe Bitcoin Academy program. The courses offer free education to residents of the Marcy Houses social housing complex in Brooklyn.
According to Dorsey, the goal of the program is to prove that, having access to powerful financial tools, people become more independent.
“This is not just about Bitcoin.It's about forward thinking, local economics and self-confidence. The courses are free to all Marcy residents, including children. And to make it even easier, we provide devices and free communications to everyone who needs it,” he wrote.
The educational program was developed in collaboration with the Crypto Blockchain Plug and Black Bitcoin Billionaire organizations.
Recall that in February 2021, Dorsey and Jay-Z launched a funding fund for bitcoin developers ₿trust.
