Intel introduced a prototype ASIC miner that outperforms all competitors

Intel, which unveiled its first bitcoin mining chip in February, has offered customers devices withefficiency is 15% higher than that of the market leaders. It is reported by Tom's Hardware.

Intel showed Bonanza Mine chip and prototypeminer based on it during the international conference ISSCC. A representative of the firm stated that the equipment provides an energy efficiency of 55 J / TH with a hashrate of 47.7 TH / s. The performance is comparable to devices from Bitfury and Canaan, but significantly inferior to the flagships of MicroBT and Bitmain.

Shortly before the event, the company named Jack Dorsey's Block (formerly Square) equipment, mining companies Argo Blockchain and GRIID Infrastructure among the first customers.

In the prospectus of the latter, filed before going public with the SEC, journalists found information about the future supply of miners with much higher characteristics than were announced at the presentation.

The publication suggested that it wasequipment based on the second generation Bonanza Mine chip (BMZ2) from Intel. The company is not explicitly listed as a supplier, but is said to be a "leading US chip manufacturer". Intel is the only chipmaker in the country, recalled in the publication.

The slide shows that the miner provideshashrate 135 TH/s and energy efficiency 26 J/TH. For comparison, the Antminer S19 Pro from Bitmain is 110 TH/s and 30 J/TH, respectively. This means that BMZ2 outperforms it by about 15%, and the prototype is almost twice as efficient.

The cost of the new miner is announced by GRIID at $5,625, which is about half the price of the S19 Pro - $10,455.

Tom's Hardware noted that the lower pricedevice for the American company can be explained by lower logistics costs, a shorter supply chain and the absence of import duties. Due to what technological superiority is achieved is unknown.
