In Chuvashia, an underground miner will be tried for stealing electricity for 7 million rubles

The Kanashsky District Court in Chuvashia will consider a case against a local underground miner who placed two containers with equipment on his land plots and stole energy worth 7 million rubles.

According to the press service, the criminal case wasinitiated under Part 2 of Art. 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing damage by deception on an especially large scale). The investigation was carried out by the Investigative Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Chuvash Republic. The local businessman faces up to 5 years in prison.

Law enforcement agencies contactedrepresentatives of the Kanash department of the Chuvash energy sales company, who discovered a significant excess in energy consumption standards in several areas registered for individual housing construction. 

As it turns out, the plots belong toentrepreneur from Cheboksary. He installed two containers with more than 40 ASIC miners on them, and paid for electricity at residential rates. The damage to the energy sales company amounted to 7 million rubles.

Earlier, the police discovered a large mining operationfarm in the Stavropol region. 66 ASIC miners were illegally connected to electrical networks. An underground miner stole about 954,000 kWh worth over 6 million rubles.
