Hyundai unveils the concept of the new Neptune HDC-6 hydrogen-powered tractor

South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor has demonstrated the concept of an electric tractor with a Neptune HDC-6 semitrailer powered by hydrogen fuel.

The 18-wheeler has a sleek exterior design and a spacious interior.So far, it is only known that the refrigerated trailer is made of lightweight materials and is designed for a maximum total load of 36.3 tons.

The truck is fueled with hydrogen, and the fuel celluses it to produce electricity for electric motors. A by-product is water, which is discharged from special outlets.

Engineers also claim that the refrigeration unit is virtually silent.

Hyundai has been in the large commercial vehicle market for a long time.vans, buses and tractors in 130 countries around the world, and recently signed agreements to supply 1,600 fuel cell trucks to Switzerland by 2023.

In addition to automobiles, the South Korean company also began to develop hydrogen fuel cell vessels.
