Halving

Halving is a halving of the reward for Bitcoin miners. It is necessary for the network to operate in order to maintain the overallthe number of bitcoins that will not exceed 21,000,000 coins.
Bitcoin halving is scheduled by block height, not by date.
Approximately every four yearsBitcoins, which are rewarded for mining the next block, are halved: at first it was 50 bitcoins, then 25, and then 12.5. In 2020, this will already be 6.25 bitcoins (the 2020 halving will occur at block 630,000). Thus, if governments are constantly increasing the money supply, the Bitcoin algorithm acts in the opposite way, preventing inflation.
This process is expected to be completed in 2140, when all Bitcoins will be mined.
