Italian fashion house Gucci has added support for the ApeCoin cryptocurrency.
New option implemented in somestores in the US through a partnership with the BitPay processing service. According to Gucci representatives, this is another step in the study of Web3.
The ApeCoin cryptocurrency is associated with the Bored Ape Yacht Club, an NFT project from Yuga Labs.
Gucci is the first merchant to support APE through BitPay processing. The latter has been operating on the market since 2011.
In April, information emerged that Gucci and other fashion brands were going to release their own NFTs.
In May, the Italian fashion house announced a pilot project to accept payments in digital assets in five US stores.
In June, the company joined the decentralized autonomous organization through a partnership with NFT marketplace SuperRare and purchased 150,000 RARE tokens.
Previously, Gucci purchased a virtual piece of land in the metaverse of The Sandbox project.
