Green energy in Russia is not able to compete with nuclear power plants and thermal power plants

Increased green electricity generation inRussia will grow by 50%, but it will not be able to supplant traditional generation. The economic efficiency of renewable energy (RES) rests on the imperfection of technology.

In Russia they support domestic renewable energy producers. With the support of the Institute for the Development of the Venture Market of the Russian Federation, the road map of the National Technological Initiative "EnergyNet", approved by the government in 2018 for the release of Russian energy technologies, is being implemented.companies to the world market.

However, the construction of renewable energy in Russia is economicallyeffective only in certain areas that are far from thermal and nuclear power plants, for example, the Orenburg region. This opinion is shared by Oleg Kolobov, Leading Advisor to the Department for Fuel and Energy Sector and Housing and Public Utilities.

The main problem is the inabilitysolar and wind installations provide constant generation of electricity. The result is interruptions in the operation of enterprises, which lead to breakdowns or downtime of equipment.

In addition, Russia may introduce a ban onparticipation of foreign companies in renewable energy projects. The idea of limiting foreign designers in the construction of green energy facilities is being discussed as part of the strategy for regulating this area in Russia. The result could be increased costs for the creation of new facilities for generating clean energy, since most Russian solar and wind power plants were built with the participation of German, Chinese, Italian or Finnish companies.

Meanwhile, the first solar power station was opened in the Omsk region.
