Government digital currencies - a threat to private banks?

I heard this version and became thoughtful. If the Central Bank issues and fully controls digital money, then why do we need other banks? They don't produce anything, they just drive back and forth for a small fraction. In theory, the powerful infrastructure of central banks can do it all on its own. And give loans. and payments can be made, and savings can be stored by the structure of the Central Bank no worse than Sberbank. In the future, of course.
As I understand it, digital money will work offline, which makes it more convenient than a cashless payment, and this is also a minus for banksters.
In general, an interesting thing - digital money.
