FBI Confirms Lazarus Group's Link to $100 Million Harmony One Bridge Hack

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said that North Korean hackers from the Lazarus One and APT38 groups were involved in a large-scale hack of the Harmony One crossbridge that occurred in mid-2022.

In a statement, FBI officialsemphasized that “during the investigation we were able to confirm the participation of the Lazarus and APT38 groups in the hack.” This hack was the result of a vulnerability in the Horizon One bridge, which allowed attackers to carry out 11 transactions and steal assets worth $100 million.

According to the FBI, North Korean hackersthis month they began to move stolen funds. Using the RAILGUN transaction anonymization protocol, approximately $60 million in stolen assets were exchanged on Ethereum. Some of the stolen funds were frozen thanks to the efforts of the Binance and Huobi exchanges.
