Social network Facebook may start testing its own digital currency pegged to the US dollar.

Swiss non-profit organizationDiemAssociation (formerly Libra Association) plans to begin testing digital currency from Facebookuntil the end of 2021. CNBC writes about this with reference to sources close to the association.

It is reported that there will be no testinglarge-scale and will focus on transactions between individual consumers. As part of testing, users will be able to not only buy goods, but also pay for services. However, there is still no date for testing the digital currency from Facebook.

According to Chainalysis CEO Michael Gronager, Facebook could launch a digital currency as early as this year. Otherwise, Gronager noted, it would have been a missed opportunity.
