European Investment Bank plans to sell bonds via blockchain

The European Investment Bank is studying digital bonds, for which registration and settlement will be carried out using the blockchain.

According to Bloomberg, the EU state financial institution has commissioned the banks Goldman Sachs, Banco Santander and Societe Generale to investigate the prospects for issuing a new type of bond.

The EIB has not yet provided any comments on thissubject, but sources of the publication claim that meetings with investors should begin on April 15 and will be held at least until the end of the month. The timing of the launch of the bonds is unknown.

Thisis not the first time that government agenciesuse blockchain to issue debt obligations. For example, the Central Bank of Thailand, which last year used a blockchain platform to issue $ 1.6 billion in bonds.
