Ethereum network fees almost doubled in a week

This happened against the backdrop of the growth of the largest altcoin in terms of capitalization to $ 2 thousand.

During this period, the average on-network transaction fee increased from $ 6.69 to $ 12.74. As of April 2, the average transaction fee is $ 11.54.

Already in April, the Ethereum blockchain willan update called Berlin, which contains suggestions for improving the EIP-2565, EIP-2929, EIP-2718 and EIP-2930 additions, and will also focus on optimizing the use of Gas (the currency used on the ether to pay commissions).

Altcoin's next update titledLondon is scheduled for July and plans to include the EIP-1559 add-on, which will completely change the algorithm for calculating fees on the network and introduce a token burn system. This is one of the main steps for Ethereum's transition from the current Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus to a more efficient Proof-of-Stake (PoS) model.

At the end of March, the Visa payment system for the first timeconducted a transaction on the Ethereum blockchain. The company translated the USDC stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. The giant also announced the release of its own system (API) for the purchase of cryptocurrencies, which will be integrated by banks. Whether it will use Ethereum technology has not been reported.
