Ethereum Developers After Bellatrix Update: We See No Danger in Skipped Blocks

Community Tracking ImpactBellatrix update on Ethereum, I noticed that the number of blocks in the network that were not confirmed the first time has increased significantly and is alarming.

The last major update led toincorrect operation of the network, said Twitter user under the nickname Martin Köppelmann. He was the first to sound the alarm, reporting that Ethereum has seen a noticeable spike in its “miss block rate” since the update went live.

According to him, after the Bellatrix update, thesethe numbers jumped about 1,700%. Traditionally, about 0.5% of all blocks in Ethereum fail verification on the first try. On September 6, more than 9% of all blocks encountered this problem.

"Frequency of missed blocks in the last 600slots - 9%. Historically this figure has been around 0.5%. This shows that Bellatrix caused problems for some validators. Nothing dramatic, but still a parameter that needs to be monitored,” warned an attentive community member.

Concerns about the Ethereum block validation situation
supported by a partner of the venture capital company Cinneamhain Ventures (CEHV) with the nickname Adam Cochran:

"Hopefully this can be debugged before the merge, we don't want to see unexpected problems late in the process."

Ethereum core developer Marius Van Der Wijd(Marius Van Der Wijden) was quick to reassure the community that the problem is minor and will not affect the blockchain merger. Wiid explained that the morning spike in the number of missed blocks is due to the fact that many Ethereum node operators have not updated their software:

“Nodes that have not yet updated are experiencing block validation issues.”

As of the evening of September 7, according to Ethernodes, 25.2% of Ethereum nodes have not yet updated their software. As a result, these nodes cannot confirm blocks that come to them for validation. According to Wiid, the impact on the network of node operators that were not updated was much less severe than expected. The developer added that he is generally pleased with the performance of the Bellatrix update and the performance of most Ethereum nodes.

Currently, the attention of the entire crypto community is focused on the transition to the Ethereum merger, as it is believed that this
The hard fork will change the crypto industry that investors are familiar with.
