Emsisoft has created a free decoder for victims of the WannaCryFake ransomware virus

Cybersecurity company Emsisoft has released a free encryption recovery tool the result of the attack of the Bitcoin ransomware virus WannaCryFake files.

The new iteration of the WannaCry virus, known since 2017, uses the AES-256 algorithm for encryption. For the decoder, they require a ransom in bitcoins.

For communication, attackers offer the ProtonMail email client or Telegram messenger. They warn that the ransom price depends on how quickly the victim contacts them.

Recall that the ransom price of ransomware viruses in the first quarter of 2019 increased by 90%.
