On March 24, 2020, a meeting of the expert group of the National Security Committee will be held.US House of Representatives International Development and Monetary Policy on cryptocurrency regulation. The meeting will be held under the auspices of the relevant committee, reports The Block.
During this meeting, participants intend toconsider all possible options for legalizing the industry. Representatives of the subcommittee have not yet made any official statements to the press, but according to some sources, during the meeting the prospects for legalizing the Libra project will be analyzed.
There are several lobbying organizations operating in Congress.groups hired by Facebook to promote their crypto project. The head of the Monetary Policy Committee, Maxine Waters, has previously repeatedly spoken about the need to develop a mechanism to control the relationship between holders of the Libra stablecoin.
The US Congress periodically holds meetings,dedicated to the subject of crypto regulation. For example, in July last year, the Senate Banking Committee reviewed the proposals of the government and the Federal Reserve to control the cryptosphere.
However, a mechanism for legalizing the industry has not yet been agreed upon, and among congressmen there are still many opponents of the introduction of cryptocurrencies.
