CME Launches 0.1 BTC Bitcoin Futures

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has announced the launch of a new fractional bitcoin derivative.

The first 0.1 BTC futures contracts will be issued on May 3, following regulatory approval.

Exchange adds fractional derivativesparts of the cryptocurrency to provide market participants with more flexible tools for hedging risks. The cost of current CME Bitcoin futures is 5 BTC.

With more affordable contracts, CME Group hopes to attract new clients and improve efficiency in derivatives trading.The company also notes a steady rise in interest in crypto futures.

Earlier, the Chicago Board of Trade reported that inBitcoin derivatives trading volume rose 57% in January. The increased attention from investors prompted its main competitor Cboe to renew its presence in the market.
