CHO uses IBM blockchain to track olive oil supply chain
One of the largestMediterranean olive oil producers CHO has joined the IBM Food Trust platform and intends to use the IBM blockchain to track oil supply chains.

The company explained that thanks to the IBM platformolive oil is monitored by eight quality control checkpoints. In addition, the system displays information about where the olives were grown, on which mill they were crushed, as well as information about the equipment with which the oil was filtered and bottled. Retailers and buyers will be able to see all the information about the origin of the product by simply scanning the QR code on the bottle label.

“The IBM Food Trust Network brings all members togethersupply chain - from farmer to end user. The manufacturer can transparently exchange data with suppliers and track information about their products, and customers will have the opportunity to check the origin of each bottle of oil and its production methods, ”said Ramesh Gopinath, vice president of IBM Blockchain Supply Chain Solutions.

Rekik added that the monitored oil will go tosupermarkets in the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Denmark and Japan as early as March. In November, European salmon producers Cermaq and Labeyrie began using IBM blockchain, and this month the corporation announced the launch of its Thank My Father blockchain application to track the supply chain for coffee and coffee beans.
