China tests the world's most powerful solid-propellant rocket engine

Researchers have successfully tested the most powerful solid rocket engine to date.

With a diameter of 3.5 meters, it is able to create thrust500 tons, using 150 tons of fuel. According to aerospace designers at China Aerospace Science and Technology, the new engine is not only the most powerful, but also the most environmentally friendly solid propellant rocket engine. The success is due to the use of advanced technologies and high-performance composite materials in the creation process.

After overcoming thismilestones, the research team will developengine with a thrust of 1000 tons. It will form the basis for future Long March 9 super-heavy launch vehicles, scheduled to begin use in 2030.

According to design data, when  height 93 m,with a diameter of 10 m, a weight of 4140 tons, their traction capacity will be 5760 tons. Such a launch vehicle will be so powerful that it will be able to launch ships weighing up to 140 tons into low-Earth orbit.

This type of missile is well suited for launch.spacecraft, but ineffective for long distance travel. However, recently the Ad Astra Rocket Company announced the completion of laboratory tests of the Vasimr VX-200SS plasma rocket, which will be able to reach speeds of up to 197,950 km / h and reach Mars in just a month.
