“Office Hours meeting provides innovators andentrepreneurs of the fintech industry the opportunity to interact with LabCFTC to discuss ideas, present their projects and better understand the structure of CFTC, ”the announcement says.
Representatives of financial regulators are no longerthe first time they organize such meetings with industry participants. Last year, FinHub, the SEC’s technology startup partnership, held such meetings in several US states.
LabCFTC was founded for several yearsback and it was it that confirmed the regulation of cryptocurrencies as a commodity in 2017. In 2018, CFTC announced that smart contracts are subject to U.S. financial law.
In addition, last fall it became known thatCFTC identifies LabCFTC's financial technology research unit as an independent entity reporting directly to the chairman of the agency.
