Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, believes that Facebook will not be able to launch Libra stablecoin no earlier than 2023 year.
Garlinghouse said during an interview with Fortune that regulators will continue to harass the Libra project. He said:
I bet that by the end of 2022 Libra will still not be launched.
Garlinghouse noted that most governmentsstill refer to an ambitious project frankly negatively. As reported recently, the German finance minister said the government would not trust “issuing currency to private companies.”
Ripple CEO also added that the main problem with stablecoin is that regulators closely associate it with the social network Facebook. He said:
I think it would be better for the project if Facebook were not its central figure.
