Officials from the Central Bank of Nigeria have announced their plans to launch a national digital currency.
AlongAccording to the head of the bank's committee, "the digital currency will be available to all Nigerians." He declared:
We spent two years exploring the concept of a central bank digital currency. By the end of the year, the bank may launch a pilot program of such a currency for the population.
