Cboe Submits New Application To Launch Bitcoin ETF

Cboe Global Markets, which owns the Chicago Board Options Exchange, has filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a new request to launch a Bitcoin ETF.

Cboe once again asks the regulator for permissionlisting and trading shares of VanEck ETF pegged to a leading cryptocurrency. The current application is based on a registration form sent to the SEC back in December 2020.

The document says that the introduction of a bitcoin ETF to the market will give investors access to transparent ways to interact with cryptocurrency.Cboe also notes thatAn equally significant factor will be the storage of the trust's digital assets in a regulated custodial service.

So far, the SEC has rejected all previous applications,therefore, it is not known when the Bitcoin ETF will be approved. According to the press service of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, it intends to become the first US marketplace to launch a cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund.

In addition, since last year, Cboe has also been working on the launch of its own cryptocurrency indices.The project should be fully deployed in the second quarter of 2021.
