Canaan launches next-generation ASIC based on 5nm chips

Canaan, a manufacturer of specializedintegrated circuits (ASIC) for cryptocurrency mining, plans to launch production of more advanced equipment based on 5-nanometer chips in the first quarter of 2020.

In technical terms, the new miners should significantly exceed the models on the market. Next-generation ASICs will have higher performance and power.

As the size of the transistors and the distance between them on the silicon matrix decreases, the device willTo workmore efficient and generate less heat.

The launch of the new ASIC line will allow Canaangain a competitive advantage over other market participants, such as Bitmain, which is currently going through hard times. Additionally, the company's confidence is reinforced by a recent IPO, during which $ 90 million of investments were attracted.
