Venezuela is still acutethe economic crisis, which the government of Nicolas Maduro partially solves by using the national cryptocurrency El Petro and restricting access to foreign currency.

In some cases, El Petro is eventhe only way to pay for a number of important services, such as passport fees. In addition, at the end of 2018, the Venezuelan government began transferring pension savings to El Petro.

It is noteworthy that not so long ago representativesDash claimed that this altcoin was the most popular in Venezuela, but there was no actual confirmation of this. The level of adoption of cryptocurrencies by local merchants remains quite low.
