Austin, March 19, 2018 – The Blockchain Trust Accelerator (BTA) has announced a joint blockchain project with The Coca-Cola Company, the U.S. Department of State, Bitfury Group, and Emercoin. The goal is to combat forced labor in the supply chain.

The project was first presented by BTA at the conference.SXSW, its main purpose is to create a secure digital registry for company employees and their contracts. The registry uses information validation using the blockchain and the functionality of a digital notary. Although blockchain technologies are not able to force companies to adhere to the terms of contracts concluded with employees, they allow the creation of chains of confirmed data that contribute to compliance with the terms of contracts and can be used for successful enforcement measures. The pilot project will help The Coca-Cola Company study recruiting risks associated with the exchange of labor contracts, as well as increase transparency and tighten control over suppliers' compliance with company policies in accordance with the rules of The Coca-Cola Company Supplier Guiding Principles.

“We are pleased to participate in the most importanta blockchain project that we believe will help protect workers' rights and has great potential to improve working conditions around the world, ”said Tomika Tilleman, co-founder of BTA.

Valery Vavilov, CEO of Bitfury Group, said the pilot project underscores Bitfury’s main goal - using the blockchain to improve the quality of life for people around the world.

“This project helps Bitfury Group realize its main mission - to develop blockchain solutions that can improve systems and services for millions of people,” said Vavilov.
