Block.one Releases Version 2.0 of the EOSIO Protocol

According to an official press release published on October 8, Block.one announced the release of version 2.0. open source protocol EOSIO.

EOSIO is a smart contract protocol thatused to develop and host decentralized applications (DApps) on the blockchain. It uses a consensus model called delegated proof of ownership.

According to the announcement of Block.one, the core is EOSIO 2.0 contains various enhancements to EOS VM, the high-performance WebAssembly engine that enables more efficient use of system resources when processing smart contracts.

Block.one spokespersons say EOS VM upgrades are up to 16 times faster than EOSIO 1.0, which greatly enhances the effectiveness of smart contracts.

EOSIO 2.0 also includes a new web tool called the EOSIO Quickstart Web IDE, which aims to simplify system requirements for building EOS.io applications.
