Bittrex moves headquarters from Malta to Liechtenstein

Cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex is set to move its headquarters from the blockchain island of Malta toLiechtenstein.

Although the reason for the move has not been disclosed, the exchangeannounced that it will close the Bittrex International branch on October 29. Interestingly, last month, the financial regulator of Malta said it would “actively monitor” licensed cryptocurrency companies to prevent money laundering in the country.

After closing the Malta office, Bittrex will start operating under the Bittrex Global brand from Liechtenstein. The company statement states:

After the launch of Bittrex Global, Bittrex International customers, including corporate accounts, will be redirected to the new platform.

Recall that recently the exchange began to useTransactional monitoring software developed by Chainalysis. Using the new solution, it is planned to monitor and prevent suspicious activity on the trading platform.
