Bitfinex and Tether refuse to lay off employees

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex and Tether do not plan to lay off employees amid unfavorablemarket situation. The Block writes about it.

Bitfinex COO Claudia Lagorio said in a commentary to the publication that the exchange continues to invest in talent and resources "in a measured and methodical manner."

“We have a range of career opportunities that we are looking to fill and our hiring plans remain in place,” she stressed.

A Tether spokesperson told The Block that the company is also committed to expanding its staff. According to him, the issuer of USDT "everything remains as usual."

“Tether is profitable and will continue tohire key positions to support the business. We care about our employees and their future - we have not reduced staff even in past crypto winters and we will never do this, ”said the source.

Bitfinex and Tether currently employ 250 people, Lagorio said.

A similar position is taken inBitcoin exchange Binance. Its head, Changpeng Zhao, called the crypto winter a good time to hire new employees and further develop the business through various acquisitions.

Previously, staff optimization was announced by BitMEX, Robinhood, Gemini, Bitso and the parent company of the Brazilian exchange Mercado Bitcoin. 

Trading platform Coinbase will cut its staff by about 18%, while blockchain platform BlockFi will cut its staff by 20%.

Recall that in June, Crypto.com CEO Chris Marszalek announced plans to lay off about 260 employees.

According to some reports, the Bybit cryptocurrency exchange is also going to cut staff.
