Bitcoin.org Will Have New Co-Owner

Bitcoin.org Will Have New Co-Owner

Bitcoin.org – site specializing in providing educational information about Bitcoin, was founded inAugust 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto and network developer Marty Malmi.

When Nakamoto left the project in 2011, hetransferred control of the domain name to a group of impartial bitcoin enthusiasts to protect it from falling into the wrong hands. Now one of the owners of Bitcoin.org, Cobra, plans to transfer control to a new member.

Cobra did not disclose why he was resigning, but noted:

“The domain name will remain in good hands, I have several people in mind“.

Cobra already has a plan for handoverperson or organization that he considers the most reliable. Among them, several famous personalities were proposed, including Will Binns and Sivann, the two most active Bitcoin developers or Blockstream co-founders, Gregory Maxwell and Craig Watkins, who support the current Bitcoin.org wallet site.

Cobra himself was involved in a lot of dubious debate and was even accused of supporting the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) protocol and promoting BCH as “real Bitcoin”.

In 2017, Cobra became an unpopular figure incommunity because of its statement about the need to rewrite the whitepaper of bitcoin in terms of controlling the network of the first cryptocurrency by users, and not miners, which caused a stormy reaction of the community.
