Bitcoin logo and title registered in Spain

Bitcoin logo and title registered in Spain

The Spaniard, who wished to remain anonymous, defended the word “bitcoin” and the logo of the first cryptocurrency onnational level.

Acting through a lawyer and a commercial law expert, the crypto-enthusiast registered the Bitcoin logo and name with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office.

The businessman gave an interview without revealing hisname, and noted that he made this decision to protect intellectual property. The Spaniard owns an electronic exchanger and seeks to protect Bitcoin. From now on, he can file a formal legal complaint if anyone uses the logo or the word "Bitcoin" for fraudulent purposes, as this would be an abuse of his trademark.

He emphasized:

“I do not claim to be Satoshi. I just registered ownership and legal use of the logo and the word. I will not forbid people to use the logo. However, if someone uses it incorrectly, I will protect him. ”

This is not the first time the Bitcoin trademark has been registered in different parts of the world. In 2016, it was patented in Russia, supposedly to prevent possible monopolization of the brand.

In 2018, the British company A.B.C. IPHoldings South West LLC acquired the Bitcoin trademark. The most famous brand contender, Craig Wright, continues to prove his rights in numerous courts and even received copyright for bitcoin's whitepaper.
