Barcelona football club will issue a token for voting

Catalan football club Barcelona will release the Barça Fan Token, which will give fans the opportunityvote in club polls. Tokens will be available on the Socios.com app from Chiliz.

Barça Fan Token (BAR) was developed inworking with the blockchain company Chiliz so that fans can vote in polls initiated by the football club through the Socios.com mobile app. The CEO and founder of Chiliz, Alexander Dreyfus, said:

“Barcelona has over 300 million fans into the whole world. The club is without a doubt the most famous and most supported football team in the world, and we look forward to seeing its fans participate in the club’s life. ”

Chiliz noted that fans interacting withthe club through the application will be rewarded with points that can be exchanged for the team's souvenirs. There are other features for BAR holders, including chat, token trading, games, and more.

40 million BAR tokens will go on sale in the secondquarter of 2020 at a price of € 2 per token. At the same time, in order to get a BAR token, fans will first need to purchase a Chiliz token, which can be bought on many exchanges.

Josep Pont, Board Member and HeadThe club’s commercial department, said that working with the blockchain is part of Barcelona’s global strategy to find new digital tools to attract fans.

“This agreement will give us the opportunity to organizeinnovative marketing and partnership agreements with a clear focus on the digital field to bring the club closer to our fans around the world, ”he said.

Last month, football club PariSaint Germain, also in collaboration with Chiliz, issued a token for voting. Earlier, the Lancashire Cricket Club cricket club began using the blockchain to sell tickets, and the Sacramento Kings basketball club launched an auction platform for the sale of sports goods a few months after the release of its own token.
