AMD will not restrict the use of video cards for mining

Integrated circuit electronics maker Advanced Micro Devices has said it has no plans to stop miners from using GPUs to mine cryptocurrencies like Nvidia did.

Discussing the Radeon RX 6700 XT video cardproduct manager Nish Nilalojanan said the company will not implement any workload limiting or blocking mechanisms, including for mining.

AMD decided not to follow in the footsteps of its main competitor Nvidia, which deliberately reduced the power of the new GPU by 50% when mining Ethereum and othercryptocurrencies.

This decision was prompted by numerousgamers' complaints about the shortage of video cards. However, Nvidia is not abandoning the market segment of miners and plans to release a specialized product for them.
