The company of American rapper Kanye West Yeezy plans to use algae foam to make a line of eco-friendly running shoes.
According to the musician, the company itself will grow algae on a hydroponic farm on a Wyoming ranch with an area of more than 1600 hectares. They also plan to move the Yeezy headquarters there.
Kanye West says the company is experimentingwith alternative harmless dyes, since the natural color of the algae foam is not particularly attractive. Despite the rapper’s noble intentions, It may not be so easy for a new product to win the favor of consumers.
Sneakers presented at the Fast Company’s Innovation Festival are very similar to the previous Yeezy Foam Runner.
Despite the announcement, the rapper did not give an approximate release date for the new line or the timing of the launch of the hydroponic farm.
