45 million rubles suspected of cryptocurrency fraud detained in Moscow

In Moscow, police managed to detain two cryptocurrency fraud suspects worth 45 million rubles. This was reported by TASS with reference to the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.

“Russian Interior Ministry officials in the Fili-Davydkovo region detained a man who is on the federal wanted list on suspicion of embezzlement of funds by fraud,” she said.

After that, he contacted the victim and offered to buy one of the types of cryptocurrency in the amount of 103 units at a lower cost for 45 million rubles.

“Then the victim came to the office, where he handed over the money to the suspect’s accomplices. One of them took the money and disappeared in an unknown direction,” said a representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Subsequently, the attackers divided the stolenfunds among themselves. According to the victim, a criminal case was initiated under part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed by an organized group, either on an especially large scale, or entailing the deprivation of a citizen's right to a dwelling).

Currently, the police detained two suspects - one of them is under house arrest, and a preventive measure against the second has not yet been selected. The third suspect is still wanted.
