160,000 Moscow surveillance cameras will be equipped with face recognition technology

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that all CCTV cameras in Moscow will be connected to a common face recognition system. FindFace Security technology will equip more than 160,000 cameras.

To date, approximately 3,000 camcordersthey recognize faces in Moscow using FindFace neural network technology developed by the Russian company NTechLab. Company executives began cooperation with the Moscow authorities in 2018 after successfully testing FindFace at the World Cup.

During the month of the championship, technology has successfully recognized more than 180 violators. In June, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that 90 wanted criminals were detained thanks to new technology connected to one thousand video cameras at the entrances of residential buildings.

Face recognition system works according to the methodhandwritten neural network. Noise like glasses, a long bang, a face mask or a badly distorted image is not a problem for FindFace - it is proved by many tests. To search for a person, publicly available information from social networks or any other sources available to the Ministry of Internal Affairs is used.

A face recognition system is necessary not only to search for criminals, but also to combat fraud. In China, face scanning will become mandatory for connecting to mobile communications.
