14% of Russians are confident that cryptocurrency will replace fiat money

A study conducted by Otkritie Bank showed that 14% of Russians believe that in 10 years cryptocurrencywill replace fiat money.

According to Nord News, the survey was conducted from 12 to 16 April with a sample of 1,000 Russians aged 18 to 65 living in cities with a population of over 100,000.

The results varied greatly depending onsurvey region: respondents from the Northwest least of all believe in cryptocurrency - only 8% believe that it will replace fiat currency in ten years, and 34% strongly do not believe that cryptocurrency can replace fiat currency in everyday use.

Most optimistic about cryptocurrencyexperiencing in Moscow: 21% of respondents believe that in the next decade, cash will be replaced by cryptocurrency and digital currency. Moreover, four out of ten respondents believe that in the future, banks will become "digital ecosystems."

One of the key factors in the refusal of Russians fromcash may be the emergence of the digital ruble. The Bank of Russia expects that the prototype of the digital ruble platform will be created by the end of 2021, and its active testing will begin in 2022.

A previous study by Otkritie Bank in January showed that 47% of Russians are ready to use the digital ruble.

However, recent research shows thatmany Russians are pessimistic about the transition to digital finance, and 39% of respondents are convinced that it is impossible to give up cash. It also turned out that 46% of respondents believe that people should have a choice - to use cryptocurrency or cash.
