10% of Russian bank depositors want to invest in bitcoin

The instability of the Russian foreign exchange market has led to an increase in those wishing to transfer their savings toalternative ways to preserve valuables.

According to the latest survey by IDF, only 38% of respondents still trust bank deposits and are not going to withdraw funds. Last month, this figure was 43%.

At the same time, the number of Russians ready to storesavings in foreign currency fell by half. Back in August, 47% of surveyed depositors were preparing to close deposits and purchase foreign currency. In September, only 22% remained. Experts attribute the decline in interest in hard currency to the uncertainty of financial markets amid the approaching second wave of coronavirus, the growth of the Russian ruble and the unstable position of the US dollar.

This determines the desire of some investorstake advantage of alternative storage options. 18% of respondents plan to invest in securities. 10% prefer innovative methods of storing value – cryptocurrency. Another 20% prefer traditional real estate investments. Precious metals were chosen by 16% of respondents.
