South Korea to start testing 6G in 2026

The South Korean government has confirmed a plan to test the sixth generation of digital mobile networks in 2026.

Over the next five years, the country plans to invest about $ 169 million in technology development, and the launch of commercial services should take place in 2028-2030.

6G wireless networks are expected to boostdata transfer rates up to 1 Tbps, which is about 5 times faster than 5G systems. At the same time, signal delays will be reduced by 10 times compared to fifth generation networks.

Despite the fact that the ministers approved the strategypromotion of R&D, neighboring China has goodchances to get ahead of the Koreans. Huawei is already conducting early research into 6G technology at its Research and Development Center in Ottawa, and the Chinese military is actively discussing introducing 6G to modernize its military.
