Co-founder of Bitcoin exchanges Coyote Crypto and EggChange extradited to the US

Russian Denis Dubnikov, accused of laundering funds from Ryuk ransomware operators, has been extraditedfrom the Netherlands to the USA. This is reported by the US Department of Justice.

According to court documents, through foundedDubnikov, bitcoin exchangers Coyote Crypto and EggChange passed at least $70 million of illegal funds. The Russian is directly charged with laundering more than $400,000 through cryptocurrencies in July 2019.

The accused will appear in court in Portland on October 4. He faces up to 20 years in prison.

Recall that on November 2, 2021, Denis Dubnikov was detained in the Netherlands at the request of the FBI.

Since 2018, the creators of the Ryuk ransomware have attacked at least 235 hospitals and psychiatric hospitals in the US, demanding a ransom for file recovery.

In 2020 alone, hackers received about $150 million in cryptocurrency. The group withdrew more than $1 million of this amount through the Binance exchange.
