Beijing Unveils Blockchain Innovation Plan

Beijing municipal government releases plan to transform China's capital into a development hubblockchain technologies.

The 145-page plan is designed to implement “the economic and social development of the capital using blockchain” and contains twenty specific tasks for the next two years. 

First of all, research will be carried out in the fieldapplication of technology in the creation of urban infrastructure and the digital economy. It is also planned to create and implement multidisciplinary blockchain applications, train highly qualified personnel for the implementation of innovative projects.

Beijing should be the first to implement blockchain technologyin the economic development of the city. The authorities plan to apply the technology's capabilities in the field of financial and tax accounting, the creation of a real estate register and unified electronic accounts.

140 government services are already using blockchain applications for data exchange, collaborative business management and issuance of electronic certificates.

The city plans to further support and develop blockchain startups from a specially created government fund.
