Craig Wright allegedly attempted suicide in 2016

Self-proclaimed creatorBitcoin Craig Wright tried in May 2016to commit suicide. This assumption was made by former Bitcoin Core developer Gavin Andresen, who acted as a witness in a court hearing in the Kleiman v. Wright case, according to CryptoPotato.

In a witness survey on February 26 this yearthe plaintiff’s representatives asked Andresen about events four years ago related to Wright’s failed attempt to confirm access to Satoshi Nakamoto’s bitcoins. Then Wright promised to prove the validity of his claims by moving the coins that he allegedly obtained when confirming transactions in the ninth block.

The event was planned to be arranged with fanfare, including inviting BBC journalists who were supposed to interview Wright. However, shortly before that, the Australian suddenly disappeared for everyone.

On May 4, 2016, Andresen received an email from a close friend of “the creator of bitcoin” Robert McGregor, in which he wrote:

“Everything is on pause. Craig was trying to injure himself; he was bleeding in the toilet. Stefan is with him, Ramona and I are on the road. Ambulance too. ”

A week later, one of Wright's colleagues phoned Andresen and said that he stabbed himself in the neck with a knife.

“There was a phone call, I don’t remember with whom. Were they at Craig's house? I don't remember where exactly, but they were somewhere. Craig disappeared upstairs and was later found bleeding with cuts to his neck before being taken to hospital in an ambulance. I think the word "suicide" was … was used,” Andresen said in the affidavit.

The crypto community doubted that such events took place. For example, The co-founder of Dragon Industries, Arturvan Pelt, who studied the court materialsbelieves it was a re-enactment.

Prior to this, in the Wright trialfiled a statement according to which he was diagnosed with autism. By this he explained the contradictions in the evidence. Judge Beth Bloom emphasized that Wright’s testimony should be assessed in the light of these circumstances.
